Presbyopia

At Sri Nirwana Netralaya Eye Hospital, we offer a range of advanced treatment options to help you manage presbyopia effectively and maintain your quality of life as you age.

Symptoms of Presbyopia Presbyopia often presents as difficulty reading small print, needing to hold reading material farther away, or experiencing eye strain or headaches after doing close-up work. If you’re finding it harder to read menus, books, or your smartphone, it may be time to explore treatment options for presbyopia.

Diagnosis and Evaluation Presbyopia is easily diagnosed during a routine eye exam. Our experienced ophthalmologists will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess the degree of presbyopia and determine the most appropriate treatment for your vision needs.

Treatment Options for Presbyopia At Sri Nirwana Netralaya, we understand that presbyopia can be frustrating, but it is highly manageable with the right care. We offer a variety of treatment options to help you regain clear near vision:

  • Prescription Eyeglasses

    • Reading Glasses: A common and straightforward solution, reading glasses are used only when needed for tasks like reading, sewing, or working on a computer.
    • Bifocal or Multifocal Lenses: These lenses combine two or more prescriptions in a single lens, allowing you to see clearly at different distances—both near and far—without needing to switch glasses.
  • Contact Lenses

    • Multifocal Contact Lenses: These lenses are designed to correct both near and distance vision, offering a convenient alternative to glasses.
    • Monovision Contact Lenses: In this approach, one eye is corrected for distance vision, and the other for near vision. It may take some time to adjust to this setup, but many patients find it effective.
  • Refractive Surgery

    • PresbyLASIK: This laser surgery reshapes the cornea to create multifocal zones, enabling the eye to focus on objects at various distances, similar to multifocal lenses.
    • Monovision LASIK: Similar to monovision contact lenses, this procedure corrects one eye for distance and the other for near vision, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses.
    • Conductive Keratoplasty (CK): This non-invasive procedure uses radiofrequency energy to reshape the cornea, improving near vision. It’s a less common option but can be effective for mild presbyopia.
  • Intraocular Lenses (IOLs)

    • Multifocal IOLs: For patients undergoing cataract surgery, multifocal IOLs can be implanted to correct presbyopia along with cataracts, providing clear vision at multiple distances.
  • Corneal Inlays

    • Corneal Inlays: This is a newer, minimally invasive option where a small device is implanted in the cornea of one eye to improve near vision. The inlay reshapes the way light enters the eye, allowing for better focus on close objects.
